How To Be A Tourist - Part One

I Probably Shouldn't Share This But

I am crap with the whole 'inside voice/outside voice' thing. I was watching an old episode of The Family Guy a couple of days ago and decided that I need to live wherever the people who write that show live. This particular episode featured two very Christine things.

The first one was a scene where a brain tumor was singing 'I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor, oh, oh, oooh, I'm a tumor' to the tune of Amadeus by Falco. I used to sing this to Madde all the time using her name 'Mad-alein-a, Mad-alein-a, Mad-alein-a...'

The second was the cheese commerical guy that you will not remember because a lot of you are too you and some of you did not have cable and most of you did not grow up in North America. He used to sing this song 'When your ten gallon hat is feeling five gallon flat, you hanker for a hunka cheese....'. I sing it all the time and get really upset that no one gets the reference. If you really want to understand me, check it out here - Time for Timer.

Do you think they are watching me?

It Ain't Easy Being Green

I hope that Kermit doesn't hate me. Sunday was London Frog Day and I missed it. There was even a free Frog Event in Twickenham. Seriously, is that not weirdly cool? I guess I had better get on the ball, I don't want to miss London Salamander Day or London Gekko Day.

For those of you on the other side of the Atlantic, mark your calendars - American Frog Day is 13 October this year. I can't find a Canadian Frog Day so this will have to do.

It's A Miracle

I know I will get no sympathy for this but I had to get up early this morning. I, Christine MacKinnon, mistress of the not going to bed before midnight, went to bed before 10pm last night and got up at 5:30 AM. Seriously, it is a true miracle. This is bigger than Lazarus. I mean, he got to sleep for 3 days and I am pretty sure that he didn't 'arise' before noon.

Here it is, not even 10:00am and I have showered, brushed my teeth, dressed, walked to the station, purchased a ticket, taken 2 trains to work while reading over 100 pages of an hiliariously badly written book and had an almost 2 hour meeting. This is like a whole weeks worth of activity and I did it before 10:00am. Not exactly the Marines but not really to my liking.

I am definitely going home early today.

It's Always Sunny In London

Well, actually it isn't but it is today. This makes me happy. Hopefully I am not tempting fate but I think Spring may have sprung.

Don't Stand So Close To Me

God only knows where the seat is but I got a ticket to see the Police at Twickenham Stadium. I am so happy. This evening I am going to see the taping of a new comedy show starring Ben Elton and tomorrow I am going to the Isle of Wight to help Sal and her parents do some work on their B&B. Hopefully this is the start of a great weekend.

Hello!

So, I am sitting on the couch this morning, answering some work e-mails when I see a ladder land against the living room window. What the ...? I then see a man climbing said ladder. Huh??? We stare at each other in disbelief for a few seconds, I grab the drying rack of underwear and run to the bedroom to hide.

Downside, I had a mini-heart attack. Upside, I have clean windows.

And...

You have to go see Hot Fuzz, the new movie from the Shaun of the Dead guys. It is hilarious. We are still talking about it 3 days later. It has a thoroughly British cast (Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent, Timothy Dalton, Bill Nighy, Martin Freeman, Steve Coogan and a Swan) and takes the piss out of American cop movies. Simon Pegg spends a large portion of the movie doing that Will Smith running with your elbows tucked in to your sides, hands sideways like a Ken doll and arms pumping up and down thing. Know what I mean? I want to tell you all about the last scene because I am laughing just thinking about it but you will get mad at me, won't you?
